MitID is the Danish government's tool to help citizens verify their identity when acting online. It is primarily an app that allows you to approve actions with a code and a simple swipe. Using MitID is just as legally valid as a handwritten signature. You can obtain MitID at your local Citizen Service (Borgerservice).

Alternatives to the app

If you are unable or prefer not to use the MitID app, there are alternative options:

  • MitID code display: Shows a one-time code that you need to enter when logging in with MitID. Learn more at Citizen Service or read more here.

  • MitID code reader: Designed for individuals with visual impairments. Learn more at Citizen Service or read more here.
