When an association needs to have a bank account, it must have a CVR number.
If the association's CVR number has been created but is no longer active, it may have been deactivated (made inactive) by the Danish Business Authority (Erhvervsstyrelsen) on virk.dk.
Virk.dk deactivates the CVR numbers of associations if there has been no login for three years. This is done to ensure that the association's information is kept up to date and to prevent inactive associations from appearing in the records.
Therefore, it is important to log in to virk.dk at least once every three years. The association will also receive a reminder in its e-box in the year before the final login date before deactivation.
We recommend checking the association's data with the Danish Business Authority once a year to ensure it is correct. This is the information we and other potential partners access publicly, so it's good to stay on the safe side.
There is no expiration date for how long it can take before an association reactivates a CVR number that was previously deactivated.
Reactivating the association’s CVR number
If the association’s CVR number is deactivated, it’s important not to create a new CVR number, as this would cause a lot of complications.
Instead, you should go to virk.dk and reactivate the CVR number. Click here to go directly to virk.dk and reactivate the association.
